    • Personal toiletries. We provide towels, shampoo, conditioner and body wash.

    • Journal/pen

    • Backpack for excursions

    • Refillable water bottle

    • Plastic poncho or travel umbrella

    • Bathing suit/trunk

    • Rain boots are necessary inside the jungle and in case of rain and mud. Please let us know what size you are and we will check if we have your size in stock. If not we will purchase a pair for you at the charge of $20 USD.

    • Rain boots are more comfortable in long socks. Bring one for each day.

    • Flip Flops/slippers for indoors and showers.

    • The Putumayo jungle is a sub tropical climate located in the Southern hemisphere. There is frequent to heavy rains with an overall comfortable temperature. The nights can get cold due to the altitude so having a sweat shirt comes in handy and when the sun is out it can be quite hot. The rain season/winter is from June - August and summer is from September - May.

    • For the day ceremony you will want to pack clothing made of natural fibers and loose fitting. Generally material that is made of cotton and other natural material will feel most comfortable and allow for the most air flow in this climate.

    • No Visas are needed for Americans in Colombia (Check your passport expiration date to make sure you have at least one year left before it expires).

    • You will fly to Bogota the capitol city of Colombia if you are coming from the USA or Europe. However it is recommended to book the regional flight before booking your international flight. The regional flight is operated by the airline Satena. You can book this on satena.com but often the website does not process non Colombian credit cards. Therefor you can alternatively book this flight on kiwi.com or you can contact us and we can purchase the flight for you.

    • Note: The regional flights leave from the same airport but from a terminal called Puente Aéreo aka Terminal 2, it is about a 5-10 minutes bus ride from the international terminal. We highly recommend coming to Bogota early and also planning to stay a night in Bogota on your departure. The reason being that Satena airlines often moves their flight 2/3 hours ahead or cancels without much notice making it difficult and often impossible to catch the connecting flight.

    • Close to the airport - ALoft is great and has a shuttle to the airport every 30 minutes as well as the Hampton by Hilton.

    • In City - The Grace Hotel (can be booked via Air B and B) this is located in Chapinero a beautiful part of Bogota. Additionally the old town called La Candelaria is a great place to explore and stay.

Taxis are very inexpensive as well as Uber.

    • It is safe and very easy to get a taxi from the airport to your hotel. There are designated taxis at the airport to take you where you need to go. You must visit the outside kiosk and let them know where you would like to go, you will then be quoted a fare and assigned a taxi cab Note: Get a quote before agreeing to take the ride with your taxi.

    • The day your retreat starts you will be picked up at the Villa Garzón airport or in a place within Villa Garzón. If you miss your flight you can take a flight to Puerto Asis and from there take a 1.30 minute taxi ride to Villa Garzon. Note that you must arrive well before sunset in order to be driven into the jungle.

    • A great way to get some Colombian Pesos is directly at the airport when you land in Bogotá. If the ATM machine at arrivals is out of cash you can go upstairs where there are plenty more. There are also plenty of ATM machines all over Bogotá, where you’ll be able to withdraw cash. Villa Garzon also has ATM machines.

    • We have a small gift shop at the retreat center where you can pay in USD or Colombian Pesos alternatively we also accept Venmo or Zelle.

    • Let your bank know about your travel plans so you can take out cash at an ATM.
